Greet the morning with a brunch talk by artist Hinrich Sachs. In conversation with David Bennewith, Sachs will expand upon his work Document from the archive of the International Auction of Basque Typefaces, 2001, currently on display in the *Latent Stare* exhibition. Originally presented in Powerpoint and lecture form, and per Bennewith's request, Sachs made a work around the story of computer programmer Thierry Arsaut's systematic collection and digitization of traditional Basque letter-designs that are for sale by auction. Arsaut ultimately claims copyright for Basque typefaces, which brings about more universal questions concerning cultural property law and the appropriation of historical and national property as well as issues of ethnographical preservation.

*Latent Stare* is an exhibition project that looks at the social and political life of type-design and is on view till 30 September. It is assembled by David Bennewith who has been working on the subject since 2010 as an advising researcher at Jan van Eyck Academie's Design department.

Hinrich Sachs is a Basel-based artist, writer and professor at Kungliga Konsthögskolan, Stockholm since 2007. Sachs' current project, Kami, Khokha, Bert and Ernie (World Heritage), is on view at Tensta konsthall in Sweden. It focuses on the culturally specific Sesame Street characters developed in over 20 countries as part of a license agreement with Sesame Workshop since the show's debut in the US in 1969.
